During sticky New York City summers, being a weekend warrior means sticking around for the days that start with “S.” It also means access to myriad festivals, fleas and of course, farmers markets.
The simple joy of a trip to the farmers market is best served sans MTA; fortunately, this just got easier for many North Brooklynites. Two delightful new Sunday farmers markets opened in June, in Greenpoint’s McGolrick Park and Bushwick’s Cooper Park.
McGolrick Park Farmers Market
Where: Sidewalk outside the park on Russell Street off Nassau Avenue
When: Sundays 11-4 through November 18, rain or shine
Cooper Park Farmers Market
Where: Sidewalk on Maspeth Avenue at Olive Street
When: Sundays 11-4 through November 18, rain or shine
Now Greenpointers can saunter over to try the goods of chutney and jammers Anarchy in a Jar; rooftop farm gurus, Brooklyn Grange; and artisanal cheese and probiotic dairy masters, Amazing Real Live Food Company. Bushwick(…ites?) can wander to that same Amazing Real Live Food alongside Horman’s Best Pickles, Wave Hill Breads and more.
Here are the full (and growing) rock star vendor lists:
